Kimball Castle
Gilford, NH 03249
Located on a hill overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee in Gilford, New Hampshire, Kimball Castle was once the summer estate of Benjamin Ames Kimball, a railroad magnate. The castle was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 and sits on 200 acres. Portions of the original acreage have been subdivided, but most of it remains conservation land managed by the town. Although Kimball Castle is not open to the public, many have wandered the grounds and have reported eerie occurrences, such as cold spots, apparitions, strange lights, and other phenomena.
